Silicone oil
  • Makes silicone more flexible
  • Add up to 15%
  • Diluent

Silicone oil is a diluent for silicone rubber. Silicone rubber can be used to cast candles, chocolate and chess pieces, among other things. Adding this silicone oil results in a more fluid product with a lower shore hardness after curing. The more oil you add, the more flexible the end result will be. A complex shape such as a chess piece can be cast in a more flexible silicone than a simpler shape such as a candle.

Dosage

  • Every 2% of silicone oil reduces the shore hardness by about 1 point.
  • Maximum dosage: 15% (adding too much can cause a sticky result).
  • Always make a test to check if the dosage is sufficient and not too much and whether the end result is not sticky.

Processing

Mix the silicone oil into the A component, preferably mechanically, and allow it to rest to allow air bubbles to escape. Then add the B component and pour the silicone rubber.
