Sikaflex-221 sealant
- Multifunctional adhesive sealant
- Resistant to ageing
- Paintable
Sikaflex-221 is a 1-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant for a wide range of applications. The elastic sealant adheres well to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, metal primers, painted surfaces, ceramic materials and various plastics.
Sikaflex-221 sealant is suitable for creating durable, elastic seals and for bonding different materials. Thanks to its good ageing resistance, the sealant is suitable for applications where a long-lasting elastic bond or seal is required.
The sealant cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture and has good non-sag properties. Sikaflex-221 can also be sanded and overpainted, making it suitable for applications where the finish after sealing or bonding is important.
Features of Sikaflex-221
- Multifunctional adhesive and sealant.
- Adheres well to a wide variety of substrates.
- Suitable for permanent, elastic seals.
- Good ageing resistance.
- Can be sanded and painted over.
- Non-corrosive.

Applications
Sikaflex-221 can be used for sealing and bonding various materials. The product is suitable for use on:
- Metals.
- Aluminium.
- Metal primers.
- Painted surfaces and two-component coatings.
- Ceramic materials.
- Various plastics.
This adhesive and sealant is suitable for both industrial applications and general assembly, sealing and repair work where an elastic bond or seal is required.
Application
We recommend applying Sikaflex-221 to a clean and dry surface, free from grease, oil and dust. Surface preparation depends on the substrate and is crucial for long-lasting adhesion. Sikaflex-221 can be applied at temperatures between 5°C and 40°C. Please note that temperature affects the product’s reactivity and application properties. The optimum temperature for both the substrate and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C. Sikaflex-221 can be applied using a manual, pneumatic or electric piston gun, or pump equipment.
