  • Makes your propeller fouling free
  • Incl. Tiecoat en Silic One
  • Easy to use

The Hempel Silic One propeller kit prevents fouling on your boat's propeller. The set consists of an anchoring layer (Tiecoat) and a fouling release (Silic One). Both products are easy to apply and are free of biocide. By using this set you apply a silicone layer by means of hydrogel, to which organisms will not adhere. Hempel's silicone technology is one of the best methods for keeping propellers free of fouling.

Instructions for use

The products from the propeller kit are easy to apply with a roller or brush. The minimum processing temperature is 10°C. Avoid working in direct sunlight. Make sure that the propeller is always clean, free of grease and thoroughly sanded before you start using the propeller kit. You can then apply the products in 3 steps:

Step 1: apply Hempel Light Primer

In order to ensure proper adhesion, it is important that you prime the substrate with Hempel Light epoxy primer (this is not supplied with the set). View the technical documentation of Hempel Light Primer here.

  • Open the packaging carefully and stir the product.
  • Mix the base and hardener in a mixing cup.
  • If necessary, add approximately 5% thinner.
  • Mix it all thoroughly.
  • Apply 1 layer of Light Primer to the propeller.
  • After a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 hours, you can continue with step 2 (at 20°C).

Step 2: apply Hempel Silic One Tiecoat

For a good adhesion between the Light Primer and the Silic One fouling release, you need to apply this anchoring layer. Check out the technical documentation of Hempel Silic One Tiecoat.

  • Open the packaging carefully and stir the product.
  • Pour sufficient Tiecoat into a paint tray.
  • Apply 1 layer of Silic One Tiecoat with a roller.
  • After a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 48 hours, you can continue with step 3 (at 20°C).

Step 3: apply Hempel Silic One

Finally, apply the Hempel Silic One fouling release over the Tiecoat. Check out the technical documentation of Hempel Silic One

  • Open the packaging carefully and stir the product.
  • Pour enough paint into a paint tray.
  • Apply 1 layer of Silic One with a roller.
  • After approximately 3 hours (at 20°C) the fouling release is hand-dry and after 16 hours it is repaintable.
  • After approximately 24 hours up to a maximum of 1 month you can put the boat in the water.
