Osmosis is the terror of all owners of polyester boats. Therefore it is often advised to watch out for osmosis. We too recommend treating osmosis quickly, so that the damage remains limited. With this osmosis repair kit you can do a small osmosis repair yourself. The package contains all the products you need to treat small osmosis spots.
What is osmosis?
Osmosis is relatively easy to recognize as bubbles in the underwater hull. Osmosis is a physical reaction that occurs when water and a (water-) soluble substance come in touch with the gelcoat or paint system of your boat. The water will slowly penetrate the gelcoat and other layers. In time, this water will linger in the cavity, after which a chemical reaction will occur (hydrolysis). This enlarges the cavity and creates a vesicle in the hull, osmosis!
Osmosis is virtually unavoidable, but it is easy to repair yourself!
