Sikaflex 290 DC Pro Deck Caulking Compound
- Non-corrosive
- UV resistant
- Easy to process
Sikaflex 290 DC PRO is a UV-resistant one-component sealant based on polyurethane. The deck caulking compound has been specially developed for sealing seams in traditional wooden decks in yacht and ship building. The sealant cures to a flexible elastomer that can be sanded.
Sikaflex 290 DC PRO complies with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations for low flame spread. Sikaflex 290 DC PRO is produced according to the quality assurance system ISO 9001 and environmental management system ISO 14001 and is also produced sustainably within the framework of "responsible care".
Benefits of Sikaflex DC PRO
- Non-corrosive.
- Easy and fast sandable
- Excellent UV and weathering resistance
- Resistant to seawater and fresh water.
- Easy to process.
Applications:
Sikaflex 290 DC PRO is intended exclusively for caulking seams in traditional wooden decks in yacht and shipbuilding (secondary sealing). Use this teak joint sealant in combination with the corresponding primer: Sika primer 290 DC.
We advise to place a so-called "bond breaker tape" at the bottom of the seam, so that the sealant only adheres to the sides of the teak. You can use fineline tape for this, for example. Apply the sealant with a caulking gun and ensure a convex finish, because Sikaflex will shrink a little. After three days, excess sealant can be sanded away and you can fill air bubbles again.
