Usage Impermax B1K
  • 1-component roofing material
  • Easy to use
  • Colour: black

Impermax B1K (Roofing Max)  is a premium liquid waterproofing membrane. Impermax B1K is a one-component, solvent-based polyurethane bitumen that creates a seamless waterproof membrane.

The liquid waterproofing membrane adheres completely to the substrate, eliminating the need to nail, burn, or glue the material. In addition, if cracks occur, water cannot penetrate under the membrane, making it easy to locate and repair. Impermax liquid waterproofing membrane is easy to apply and dries in 4 hours.

This product is suitable for new construction, repairs and renovation.

Benefits of Impermax B1K

  • Easy to apply with a roller and brush.
  • The material adheres completely to the substrate, eliminating the need to nail, burn, or glue the roof covering.
  • Leaks or damages are easy to locate and repair.
  • Easy to apply and work on difficult details and shapes such as sloped edges, roof penetrations, and dormers.
  • Minimal fire risk as you are not working with open flames.
  • Fast waterproofing, almost immediate rainproofing.

Applications

This product is mainly used for waterproofing and air-sealing outdoor structures on which there is little or no foot traffic. Examples are:

  • Roofs directly on bitumen, EPDM, PVC and asphalt.
  • Basements and foundations directly on concrete.
  • Tiles on balconies and terraces.
  • Detailed connections such as ducts, flashings. skylights etc.
  • Wooden roofs*
*Please note: for use on wood, Impermax is only suitable for processing in combination with polyester fleece (2-layer system).

Directions for use

Impermax B1K is easy to use. For optimal adhesion, we recommend working on a flat surface, free of dust, loose particles, oil, etc. Cracks should also be repaired beforehand. You can apply Impermax as a single-coat system or as a two-coat system by incorporating the polyester fleece into the membrane to achieve a complete coverage system.

Use as a single-layer system

Impermax B1K can be used as a single-layer system on existing waterproofing membranes such as bitumen, EPDM, PVC, and asphalt (consumption: 1.6 kg/m2). The roof can last 10 years longer after applying this system!

  • Open the package and mix the contents using a spiral mixer until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
  • Let the product sit for a while to allow air bubbles to escape (there is no need to dilute it).
  • Apply the liquid roofing using a fleece roller or brush.
  • Then let the roof cure for at least 4 to 8 hours. Curing time depends on ambient conditions.  See the technical documentation for an overview of the recommended curing time for Impermax B1K.
  • Apply a second coat within 24 hours if necessary.
Tip: use Impermax Primer (Porosity Sealer Flex) to improve the adhesion of the roofing on EPDM and PVC roofs. For bitumen roofs, no primer is necessary with Impermax B1K. Always use a primer when working on zinc.

Use as a 2 layer system

Combined with polyester fleece, the liquid roofing material is also suitable as a complete roofing system (consumption: 2.5 kg/m2). The roof can last at least 25 years after applying this system!

  • Open the packaging and mix the contents with a spiral mixer until a homogeneous mass is formed.
  • Allow the product to rest for a while to allow air bubbles to escape (dilution is not necessary).
  • Apply the liquid roofing with a fleece roller or brush.
  • Place the glass fleece in the wet layer of Impermax with an overlap of 10 cm.
  • Roll the glass fleece firmly into the material and allow it to harden for 24 hours.
  • Apply a 2nd layer of Impermax to the roof and allow it to harden. The hardening time depends on the environmental conditions. See the technical documentation for an overview of the recommended hardening time of Impermax B1K.
  • Open the package and mix the contents with a spiral mixer until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
  • Let the product stand for a while to allow air bubbles to escape (there is no need to dilute it).
  • Apply the liquid coating with a roller or brush.
  • Place the glass fleece on the wet layer of Impermax with a 10 cm overlap.
  • Firmly press the glass fleece into the material and allow it to harden for 24 hours.
  • Apply a second layer of Impermax to the roof and allow it to harden. The curing time depends on the ambient conditions. See the technical documentation for an overview of the recommended curing time for Impermax B1K.

Under normal conditions, the Impermax B1K membrane reaches 90% of its properties within 3 days. After 1-2 days, Impermax is walkable and rainproof. The product is fully cured after 10-15 days, after which it can be fully loaded with water (e.g. for a pond or swimming pool). Once opened, Impermax has a shelf life of 6 months with the lid closed. Auxiliary materials can be cleaned with acetone.

Please note: the Impermax can can be difficult to open. Use a wide, flat screwdriver or preferably a pair of pliers to open the lid.
