DIY | How to Work with Resi-Blast

Are you familiar with Resi-Blast dispersion liquid? Perhaps you have seen paintings or artwork featuring striking cell effects and wondered how they were created. You can easily make this yourself using Resi-Blast dispersion liquid! In this article, you will read all about what Resi-Blast is and how to use it for your Resin Art.

What is Resi-Blast?

Resi-Blast is a powerful effect liquid for creating unique patterns in epoxy. The fluid is mainly used to create cells: small, rounded patterns formed when different epoxy colors separate from one another.

Resi-Blast is extremely effective. Just a few drops are enough to produce a striking effect. In addition to cell effects, you can also use the liquid for creating lace effects, eyelets, blooming flower patterns, and island formations.

Benefits of Resi-Blast

  • Easily creates eye-catching cell effects in epoxy.
  • Requires only a few drops.
  • Suitable for any epoxy resin.
  • The effect can be manipulated using heat and airflow.
  • Non-toxic.

How to use Resi-Blast?

Resi-Blast can be applied at different stages when creating your artwork. You can add the effect fluid to a specific epoxy color prior to pouring, or apply it directly onto freshly poured epoxy.

The effect appears almost instantly. Using a heat gun, hairdryer, drinking straw, or gas torch, you can then manipulate the epoxy and expand the cells further.

Using Resi-Blast before pouring

For a controlled cell effect, add Resi-Blast to one or a few epoxy colors prior to pouring.

  1. Mix the epoxy resin according to the specified mixing ratio on the packaging.
  2. Add your chosen pigments.
  3. Add a small amount of Resi-Blast to one or two of the colored portions.
  4. Gently stir and pour the epoxy onto your substrate or into the mold.
  5. Use a heat gun, hairdryer, or other heat source to manipulate the cells.
  6. Allow the artwork to cure completely according to the instructions of the epoxy used.
Tip: Do not add Resi-Blast to all color mixes. The effect works best when applied to just a few colors, creating greater contrast between the distinct shades.

Using Resi-Blast after pouring

You can also apply Resi-Blast directly onto wet epoxy. This gives you direct control over where the effects develop.

  1. Mix the epoxy resin according to the specified mixing ratio on the packaging.
  2. Add your chosen pigments.
  3. Pour the epoxy onto your substrate or into the mold.
  4. Distribute a few drops of Resi-Blast across the surface.
  5. Use a heat gun, hairdryer, straw, or gas torch to move the epoxy and shape the resulting patterns.
  6. Allow the epoxy to cure completely according to the instructions of the epoxy used.

Feel free to experiment with the amount of Resi-Blast and your method of applying heat or airflow. This will help you discover which technique and effects suit your artwork best.

What effects can you create with Resi-Blast?

While Resi-Blast is primarily used for cell effects, you can produce many other creative patterns. By altering the color combinations, the amount of effect liquid, and the method of heating, you can also create lacing, eyelets, flower-like blooms, and island shapes.

Experimenting is what makes Resin Art so enjoyable. Try out different color combinations and techniques to discover your own unique effects.
