RESION Pavistone: The Ideal Solution for Gravel Floors and Stone Carpet

Are you looking for a durable binder for installing a gravel floor, stone carpet or decorative gravel path? Then RESION Pavistone is the perfect solution. In this article, you will learn what Pavistone is, what it can be used for and how to apply it. We also explain why Polyestershoppen.com is the best place to order it — the specialist in floor systems.

What is RESION Pavistone?

RESION Pavistone is a colourless, single-component polyurethane binder specifically developed for binding gravel or decorative stones into a solid, seamless and wear-resistant surface. The product is aliphatic, meaning it is UV-resistant and does not yellow when exposed to sunlight — ideal for outdoor use!

Thanks to its elastic properties, Pavistone can withstand cracking and tension in the substrate. The resulting surfaces are also water-permeable, low-maintenance and slip-resistant.

Key features of Pavistone

  • High UV-resistance (the surface will not yellow).
  • Easy to apply (single component).
  • Elastic.
  • Water-permeable.

Where can you use Pavistone?

Pavistone is highly versatile and suitable for both residential and commercial applications, such as:

  • Gravel floors in gardens, driveways and walkways.
  • Stone carpet on terraces or balconies.
  • Cycle paths and pedestrian zones.
  • Ramps, multi-storey car parcks and public squares.
  • Decorative gravel around swimming pools or in parks.

How to apply RESION Pavistone

Applying Pavistone is relatively straightforward for professionals and skilled DIYers. Follow these steps for the best results.

Required materials

1. Preparing the substrate

Ensure that the substrate is:

  • flat, clean and dry.
  • free from dust, oil, cracks and loose parts.
  • has a tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm².

2. Mixing with gravel or stones

  • Mix Pavistone with the chosen aggregate in a mechanical mixer.
    • Use 3–5% Pavistone for large, smooth stones.
    • Use 5–7% for smaller, porous or irregular stones.
  • Mix thoroughly for 2 minutes so all stones are evenly coated.

3. Applying the mixture

  • Spread the mixture evenly using a trowel.
  • Press lightly to create a compact and uniform surface.
  • Work in sections to avoid colour differences.

4. Sealing (optional)

For additional wear protection, you may apply a thin layer of undiluted Pavistone as a topcoat. Note: avoid applying too much to prevent foaming or discolouration.

5. Curing and use

  • Suitable for foot traffic after 24–48 hours (depending on temperature and humidity).
  • Fully cured after around 24 hours under optimal conditions.

Important processing tips

  • Ideal temperature: 10°C to 25°C.
  • Ideal humidity: 30-80%.
  • Use clean, dry decorative gravel with the correct grain size.
  • Pavistone is not intended for DIY beginners — it is designed for professional use.
