This carbon/aramid UD woven tape is a hybrid reinforcement tape that combines the high-strength properties of carbon fibre and aramid (Kevlar). This combination provides the material with high stiffness as well as excellent resistance to point loads and impact. As a result, this UD woven tape is particularly suitable for applications where both strength and toughness are required, such as tanks, structural reinforcements and local strengthening.
The unidirectional (UD) structure means that the fibres run predominantly in one direction. This allows the reinforcement to be applied very precisely, exactly where the load is greatest. In addition, this tape can be easily combined with other reinforcement materials. For example, one or more layers of aramid can be laminated between glass fabric or carbon fabric to add extra impact resistance to the laminate.
With a width of 10 cm, this woven tape is practical to use and ideal for repairs, edge reinforcements and smaller structural modifications, both in boatbuilding and industrial applications.
