Repair and epoxy mortar
At a glance
- Ready-mixed epoxy mortar
- For plinths, thresholds and holes
- Suitable under an epoxy floor
Product description
This epoxy mortar is an easy-to-use skirting mortar. Coving Mortar is for the formation of skirting boards, thresholds and hollow corners as well as for making small repairs to the substrate. Do you have skirting boards or hollow surfaces that need to be filled? Then this thixotropic epoxy mortar is what you need.
Features Coving Mortar
- Fast and shrink free curing.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete.
- High mechanical resistance.
- Resistant to impact and wear.
- Solvent free.
Applications
Coving Mortar has been specially developed for making cave skirting boards or sanitary skirting boards. The epoxy mortar is also suitable for:
- Repairing mortar for concrete, cement mortar and stone.
- Filling holes and damaged corners, edges and joint flanks in concrete.
- Rigid filling of wide, non-moving joints.
- Filling and sealing of cracks (without movement).
Directions for use
The repair mortar consists of two components. Namely, a earth-dry substance and a liquid hardener. Follow the steps below to prepare and process the epoxy mortar:
- Add the B-component to the A-component and mix the two components for at least 3 minutes with a slowly running electric drill (maximum 400 rpm) and spiral mixer.
- Mix again in a clean bucket as soon as a smooth homogeneous mass in an even grey or white colour is obtained. Only mix a quantity that can be applied within the indicated application time (approx. 60 minutes).
- Now work the mortar with a smoothing trowel or jointing nail.
- Allow the epoxy mortar to cure for at least 24 hours before it can be loaded lightly.
After curing, you can finish the floor with the desired epoxy-based floor finish, such as our Epoxy floor coating or Epoxy cast floor.

The waiting time before a coating, floor or bonded joint can withstand a specified load, such as light foot traffic or gentle handling. Resistance often increases as curing continues; full mechanical and chemical resistance may be reached later.
- Light loading: 1 day
-
Humidity during application is given as relative humidity, usually in percent (% RH). It indicates how much water vapour the air contains compared with the maximum it can hold at that temperature. Excessive humidity can interfere with drying or adhesion of some coatings. Also check that the substrate is dry enough and free from condensation.
- Maximum: 75%

Mixing ratio indicates how much of each component is needed, for example resin (A) and hardener (B). A ratio of 100:50 by weight means 100 grams of A to 50 grams of B; by volume you might use millilitres. Weight and volume ratios are not necessarily the same because the components may have different densities. Accurate measuring is important for proper curing.

A solvent-free product contains no added solvents according to the manufacturer's specification. This does not automatically mean it is odourless, emission-free or safe to use without protective measures.

A paint or varnish layer is dust-dry when settling dust is less likely to stick to the surface. It may not yet be touch-dry, ready for overcoating or suitable for loading; these are different stages of drying and curing.

Curing time is the period a product needs to reach a specified stage of cure. It is usually given in hours or days, often at a reference temperature such as 20 °C. A product may be tack-free or safe to handle before reaching its full mechanical and chemical resistance. Film thickness and mixed quantity may also affect the time.
- 7 days
-
Consumption or coverage describes how much product is needed for a given surface area. Consumption may be stated in g/m² or kg/m², while coverage is often given in m²/L or m²/kg. A consumption of 0.2 kg/m² means a theoretical 200 grams per square metre. Actual use depends on film thickness, substrate absorbency, application method and waste.

Working time is the period during which a product remains workable after mixing or activation, usually given in minutes at a specified temperature, often 20 °C. With reactive resins, the chemical reaction also continues in the mixing container, and larger quantities or higher temperatures can shorten this time. Working time is different from gel time and full curing time.
- Approximately 60 minutes
