Hempel Conversion Primer

Hempel Conversion Primer is a 2-component epoxy primer used when switching from traditional antifouling to Hempel’s biocide-free Silic One system. The primer forms a suitable bonding layer on existing antifouling, so you do not have to remove the existing antifouling completely before applying the new system.

Hempel Conversion Primer can also be used as a bonding layer between an epoxy-primed surface and Hempaspeed TF.

How to apply Hempel Conversion Primer 

Mix the two components at ratio of 3:1 by volume. Then apply the primer to the prepared surface with a brush or roller. Thinning is not required.

Observe the specified recoating intervals during application. At 20 °C, Hempel Conversion Primer can be recoated with another coat of Conversion Primer or Silic One Tiecoat after a minimum of 2 hours and within a maximum of 4 hours. For Hempaspeed TF, the recoating interval at 20 °C is 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Clean tools after use with Hempel Thinner 845.
