UD carbon fibre tape is designed for local repairs and targeted reinforcements that require maximum strength in one direction. All carbon fibres run parallel along the length, concentrating the strength exactly where it is needed.
With a weight of 340 g/m2 and a width of 75 mm, this unidirectional carbon tape is ideal for reinforcing beams, tubes and structural components that are mainly loaded in one direction. It can easily be used with epoxy resin for repairs and structural applications.
How is UD fabric different from plain weave?
In plain weave tape, fibres run in two directions (0° and 90°), so strength is distributed. In unidirectional (UD) fabric, all fibres run in the same direction. This offers the following benefits:
- Higher strength per layer in the longitudinal direction.
- More efficient material use: apply reinforcement precisely where needed.
- Lower thickness per layer for equivalent strength in the intended direction.
- Ideal for targeted reinforcement along beams, frames and cracks.
UD carbon fibre tape is also available in other widths. Choose from 25 mm, 37,5 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm or 120 mm.

Fibre type affects a composite's strength, stiffness, toughness and weight. Common reinforcement fibres include:
- Glass fibre: a cost-effective choice used widely in polyester and epoxy laminates.
- Carbon fibre: very stiff and lightweight, suitable for parts that need to be light and hold their shape.
- Aramid: a tough fibre with good resistance to certain impacts and tearing, but often harder to cut neatly and sand.
Final properties also depend on fibre orientation, fabric type, resin content and laminate quality.

Areal weight is the weight of one square metre of dry reinforcement, expressed in g/m² (grams per square metre). For example, 200 g/m² glass fabric contains 200 grams of dry fibres per m², without resin. Areal weight helps with reinforcement selection and resin consumption estimates, but it is not the final laminate thickness.
