Product description

Epifanes Interimcoat+ is a two-component epoxy primer specifically developed as a bonding layer for antifouling. The primer adheres excellently to a variety of substrates, dries quickly, and is highly impact-resistant. Ideal for application below the waterline on pre-treated bare polyester, it is also suitable over epoxy coating systems on wood and steel.

After applying Interimcoat+ to the underwater hull, all common antifouling paints can be applied from 8 hours up to a maximum of 7 days later.

Features of Epifanes Interimcoat+

  • Two-component epoxy primer for below the waterline.
  • Excellent adhesion to various substrates.
  • Fast-drying and impact-resistant.
  • Can be overcoated with all common antifouling paints after 8 hours.

Directions for use

Follow the instructions below to apply Epifanes Interimcoat+ easily:

  1. Prepare the substrate according to the technical documentation. Use Epifanes HB Coat and/or Epifanes Epoxy Primer for this purpose.
  2. Degrease the surface and sand it.
  3. Mix component A and B together in a mixing cup at a ratio of 100:25 (by volume).
  4. Stir both components thoroughly and allow the mixture to react for 15 minutes. Then stir again, taking care not to incorporate air.
  5. If desired, add 5–10% Epifanes D-601 thinner after mixing.
  6. Apply the epoxy primer with a brush, nylon roller or spray gun. Ensure an adequate layer thickness to promote smooth flow.
  7. Do not apply this product wet-on-wet, and avoid thicker layers than recommended to prevent sagging and curing problems.
  8. Allow the primer to cure for at least 8 hours before overcoating with Epifanes Copper Cruise antifouling*.

*Note: if the primer is overcoated after more than 7 days, we recommend degreasing the surface first with Epifanes Cleaning Thinner and sanding with P150–P180 grit.
