Acrystal Aqua

Acrystal Aqua is an acrylic resin specially developed for long-term immersion in water. This material has a thicker consistency than other Acrystal products and contains fibres that provide additional strength to the finished piece. As a result, Acrystal Aqua is ideal for laminating applications, but not suitable for casting. Due to its thicker consistency, air bubbles can easily become trapped in the material, which may lead to poor curing and brittleness in larger castings.

Acrystal Aqua is therefore perfect for laminating work. For example, it can be used to coat the back of an aquarium or to reinforce ornaments and decorative objects. This product is not suitable for casting. If you wish to create castings, we recommend using Acrystal Prima instead.

Versatile applications

Thanks to its high mechanical strength and fire-resistant properties, Acrystal Aqua is suitable for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications:

• Architecture & Interior Design: worktops, designer furniture and climbing walls
• Art & Culture: sculptures, replicas, museum models and tactile displays.
• Scenography: theatre sets, film sets and theme park scenery.

Directions for use 

• Weigh the components separately according to the mixing ratio (1 part liquid to 7 parts powder). Use accurate scales and a mixing container.
• Add the Acrystal Aqua liquid to the powder.
• Mix thoroughly for a further 2 minutes until a smooth, lump-free mixture is obtained. Please note that Acrystal Aqua is a very thick compound. Mixing and handling improve its workability.
• The material is now ready for use (working time: 30–45 minutes at 20°C).
• Allow the workpiece to cure for at least 24 hours before further processing or loading.
• Important: after curing, keep the workpiece in a humid environment for at least 72 hours to achieve optimal mechanical properties. Drying too quickly may cause cracking.
