Sikaflex 292i structural bonding compound
- 1-component construction adhesive
- For yacht and ship building
- High dynamic load capacity
Sikaflex 292i is a multipurpose structural bonding compound for marine applications. The polyurethane adhesive consists of 1 component and has a thixotropic pasty consistency that cures by exposure to humidity. Sikaflex 292i has excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates and good mechanical strength. In addition, Sikaflex complies with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations for low flame spread.
Benefits of Sikaflex 292i structural bonding compound
- 1-component polyurethane.
- Elastic and dampens vibrations.
- Good gap-filling properties.
- Adheres well to a wide variety of substrates.
- Can be painted.
- Non-corrosive.
- Not electrically conductive.
- High dynamic load-bearing capacity.
- Solvent free and very low VOC.
Applications
Sikaflex 292i is suitable for structural joints in marine constructions which will be subjected to high dynamic stresses. It is suitable to bond metals, particulaly aluminum (including anodized finishes), metal primers, and paint coatings (2-component systems), or ceramic materials, plastics such as GRP (unsaturated polyester resin), ABS etc. Always perform tests on original substrates before using Sikaflex 292i on materials prone to stress cracking. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
