Silica beads for 3D printers and electronics
Moisture is the biggest enemy of 3D printing filament. If the filament absorbs moisture from the air, it leads to poor print quality, air bubbles, and clogged nozzles. Of course, you want to prevent that!
- Store 3D printer filament in a dry environment: store your filament spools in a closed container along with a generous amount of silica gel beads. The beads keep the space bone-dry, ensuring your filament stays in absolute top condition.
- Rescue electronics: has your phone or remote control fallen into water? Place the device immediately in a sealed container with our silica beads to effectively draw out the moisture. This works far more effective than using rice!
- Archiving and documents: protect old documents, stamps, or photo albums from moisture stains, mould, and musty odors during storage in the attic or basement.
The difference between silica gel beads and Silica gel sand
While our silica gel sand is specifically meant for drying fragile flowers due to its fine structure, these larger silica gel beads (0.5-1.5 mm) are perfect for all other drying applications. The coarse beads are easy to handle, dust-free, and simple to clean up or sift after use.
Reusing silica gel beads
Our silica beads are reusable and last a very long time because you can easily regenerate them. Are the beads saturated with moisture? Spread them out on a baking sheet (lined with baking paper or aluminium foil) and place them in a preheated oven at 80°C for about 30 minutes. The absorbed moisture evaporates completely, and the beads are like new again, ready for use!
