Our orange silica gel is versatile and suitable for various applications, such as drying flowers, moisture absorption in electronics (e.g. phones) and dry storage of filaments for 3D printers. An important advantage of this orange silica gel compared to white silica gel is the colour indicator. When the pearls change colour from orange to green/blue, you know that they are saturated. You can easily reuse the silica gel by removing the moisture from it with an oven (see the additional information about reusing silica gel).

Drying flowers with silica gel [step-by-step plan]
- Preparation
Sprinkle a layer of silica gel of 2-3 cm in a container with an airtight lid (a bucket can also be used). - Place the flower in the container with silica gel pearls
Carefully place the flowers, petals or leaves on the silica gel, so that they do not overlap. - Cover the flower with silica gel
Carefully scoop the silica gel around the flowers. Make sure that the flowers are completely covered, without damaging them. With a deep container and sufficient silica gel, you can make multiple layers of flowers. - Let the flowers dry
Close the container or bucket tightly and let the flowers dry. The drying time of the flowers can vary per piece. Check after two to three days whether the flowers are dry - Carefully remove the flower from the container
If the flowers feel papery, they are dry. Carefully remove them from the container, for example with a spoon.
Reuse Silica Gel
The colour of the silica gel changes from orange to green when it is saturated. Once the pearls have changed colour, you can easily reuse them by removing the moisture using an oven. Spread the used silica gel evenly on baking paper or aluminum foil and place it in a preheated oven at 80°C. Let the silica gel dry for about 30 minutes.
