Silica Gel (orange)
- Suitable for 3D-printers
- With colour indicator
- Reusable
Our orange silica gel is a powerful and reliable moisture absorber in loose granules of 3–5 mm, suitable for a wide range of applications where low humidity is essential. This silica gel is widely used for moisture-free storage of 3D-printer filament, helping to prevent issues such as brittle filament, poor layer adhesion and printing defects. It is ideal for PLA, PETG, ABS, and other hygroscopic filaments.
In addition to 3D printing applications, orange silica gel is highly suitable for protecting electronics, for use in air filters, and as a relative humidity buffer (RH buffer) in display cases, museums, pianos and storage spaces.
Benefits of orange silica gel
- Reusable.
- Colour indicator.
- Safe to use.
- Suitable for 3D printers and electronics.
Colour indicator & reusability
An important advantage of orange silica gel compared to white silica gel is the built-in colour indicator. When the moisture level exceeds 20% RH (relative humidity), the granules change colour from orange to green/blue.
- Orange: active and ready for use.
- Green/blue: saturated with moisture.
As soon as the colour changes, you know immediately that the silica gel needs to be regenerated.
Free from harmful substances
Our orange silica gel:
- Is non-hazardous and environmentally friendly.
- Is free from heavy metals.
- Contains no DMF (dimethyl fumarate).
This makes the silica gel safe to use and suitable for long-term applications, including enclosed environments and sensitive equipment such as 3D printers.
Applications
Use RESION Silica Gel for the following applications:
- Keep 3D-printer filament dry.
- Protect electronics and air filters.
- Serve as an RH buffer for display cases, museums and instruments.
Reusing silica gel (regeneration)
When the orange silica gel has changed colour to green/blue, it can easily be reused:
- Spread the used silica gel evenly on baking paper or aluminum foil.
- Place the granules in a well-ventilated oven at a maximum of 80 °C.
- Allow the silica gel to dry for 30 minutes to 3 hours, until the original orange colour has fully returned.
Note: heating above 80 °C may damage the granules and reduce their effectiveness.
