Silicone casting rubber 1:1 Shore 40 (translucent)

  • Hard siliconenrubber
  • 1:1 mengverhouding
  • Kleur: translucent

Silicone casting rubber shore 40 is the stiffest casting rubber in our range. The hard translucent casting rubber is suitable for making large transparent moulds that must have considerable inherent strength. This makes this product the first choice when making moulds into which you will pour concrete, tin or copper.

RESION Silicone Rubber has a simple mixing ratio of 1:1 which makes weighing and mixing very easy.

Features

In contrast to the black coloured casting rubber, this casting rubber is translucent, giving the mould a transparent appearance. Furthermore, the translucent silicone casting rubber has the same properties as the other casting rubber from the brand RESION. The silicone therefore has good tensile strength, slight flexibility and slight elasticity. Moulds made from Shore 40 casting rubber therefore have a long lifespan and produce razor-sharp products.

Once cured, this silicone rubber exhibits excellent resistance to epoxy resinpolyester casting resins, polyurethane casting resins, plaster, concrete and more. In addition, the product has good heat resistance and shows minimal shrinkage.

Benefits of silicone casting rubber

  • Translucent in colour (transparent)
  • High tensile strength
  • Flexible (Shore 15)
  • Easy 1:1 mixing ratio
Translucent silicone casting rubber is also available in a flexible Shore 15.

Processing silicone casting rubber

Silicone casting rubber is easy to use due to the 1:1 mixing ratio. Follow the steps below for perfect results.

  • Accurately weigh the base (component A) and hardener (component B) with a scale in a 1:1 mixing ratio.
  • Mix both components thoroughly (not too intensively) for about 3 minutes with a mixing spatula. Don't forget to scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing bowl well. Then pour the mixture into a new mixing bowl and mix thoroughly again.
  • Now the silicone casting rubber is ready for processing! The processing time is approximately 10 minutes at the recommended processing temperature of 20°C. At higher temperatures, curing will proceed faster and air bubbles will be less able to escape. At low temperatures, curing will actually be slower.
  • After approximately 8 hours, the silicone casting rubber has hardened.

This silicone casting rubber can easily be turned into a brushable or spatula-able iron-on silicone by adding silicone thickening agent.
