Silicone casting rubber 1:1 Shore 15 (translucent)
- Flexible silicone rubber
- Type: platinum cure
- Food-safe
Silicone Casting Rubber 1:1 Shore 15 (translucent) is a high-quality, semi-transparent silicone rubber for producing flexible moulds. Thanks to its simple 1:1 mixing ratio, the material is easy to measure, mix and process. The silicone rubber is strong, flexible and food-safe (independently tested by TÜV SÜD). Shore 15 Silicone Casting Rubber is ideal for producing semi-transparent moulds for use with epoxy.
Features of semi-transparent silicone casting rubber (Shore 15)
Unlike the blue version, this silicone casting rubber is translucent, giving the finished mould a semi-transparent appearance. Apart from its colour, this translucent silicone rubber has the same properties as the other RESION silicone casting rubbers. The material offers high tensile strength and excellent flexibility, making it highly tear-resistant and ensuring Shore A15 moulds have a long service life.
Once cured, the silicone rubber is resistant to epoxy resin, polyester and polyurethane casting resins, plaster, concrete and many other casting materials. It is also heat-resistant and exhibits virtually no shrinkage, resulting in durable, dimensionally stable moulds.
Benefits of Shore 15 silicone casting rubber
- Translucent colour (semi-transparent).
- High tensile strength.
- Flexible (Shore A15).
- Easy 1:1 mixing ratio.
Processing silicone casting rubber
Silicone casting rubber is easy to use thanks to its simple 1:1 mixing ratio. Follow the steps below for the best results.
- Accurately weigh the base (Component A) and curing agent (Component B) using a scale in a 1:1 mixing ratio.
- Mix both components thoroughly for approximately 3 minutes using a mixing spatula, taking care not to mix too vigorously. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing cup. Then pour the mixture into a clean mixing cup and mix thoroughly once more.
- The silicone casting rubber is now ready for use. The working time is approximately 45 minutes at the recommended processing temperature of 20°C (68°F). Higher temperatures accelerate curing and reduce the time for air bubbles to escape, while lower temperatures slow down the curing process.
- After approximately 8 hours, the silicone rubber is tack-free.
This silicone casting rubber can easily be converted into a brushable or spreadable silicone by adding silicone thickener.
