If you want to make resin jewellery, it is important to have the right products for this. We have listed the most important products. Did you know that we have put together a complete jewellery kit, so you can get all the products you need straight away? In this article, we'll be using the products in the epoxy jewellery kit. The kit is convenient to use, but you can also put together your own kit.
These products are recommended for use during processing:
Be sure to always wear nitrile gloves and old clothing when working with epoxy. The epoxy should not come into contact with your skin. Wearing a mask is not required, but make sure the area you are working in is well ventilated. Do you have questions about appropriate personal protective equipment? The mixing ratio of this epoxy is 100:60. This is the mixing ratio for our Resion epoxy. This epoxy is best for jewelry. Use a digital scale to weigh it and mix for 2 minutes with a mixing spatula. Processing time is 30 minutes at a temperature of 20°C. Make sure you have cured the epoxy in the mold during this time. The best temperature for processing epoxy is 18°C or higher.
When the epoxy is ready, you can add various resin art pigments to it. Again, mix well. Adding pigments is of course optional. It is also possible to keep epoxy jewellery transparent.
Now it's time to pour the epoxy into the mould! Since jewelry often has small surface areas, it is convenient to use a pipette to pass the epoxy from the mixing cup into the mould. Fill the mould until it does not overflow, this will give you the best result.
Air bubbles can be removed with RESION Bubble Burst or a mini gas burner. When using a gas burner, be careful not to use it for too long. This may damage the mould. Bubble Burst (alcohol spray) is the safest way to remove air bubbles from epoxy.
Once you've filled the mould, the waiting begins! The epoxy will now harden, after about 12-18 hours you can remove the jewellery from the mould. The epoxy will be fully cured after 3-5 days. Is your jewellery completely cured? Then finish them as desired by, for example, polishing or “doming” the jewellery (pouring a new layer of transparent epoxy over the jewellery).
