Product description
RESION Polyester laminating resin (orthophthalic) is a versatile resin widely used in combination with chopped strand mat (CSM) for laminating and repairing polyester structures. This orthophthalic laminating resin is highly suitable for manufacturing or repairing boats, car spoilers, carnival floats, motorcycle seats, model-making projects, swimming pools and ponds. It is also ideal for reinforcing or repairing larger holes in polyester surfaces. When used in combination with glass mat, it forms a strong and durable construction that is just as strong as the original.
This polyester laminating resin is easy to use and offers excellent workability. Fibre wet-out is excellent, the resin does run out of the fibres, and air bubbles are easy to remove. RESION Polyester laminating resin features a blue colour indicator that shows whether hardener has been added.
Features of polyester laminating resin
- Impact resistant.
- Easy to use.
- Blue colour indicator.
- Suitable for use from 12°C and above.
Directions for use
- Determine the required amount of hardener using the table below (1.5-2.5% MEKP hardener).
- Add the hardener to the polyester resin and mix thoroughly.
- The pot life is approximately 30 minutes at 20°C.
- The curing time is approximately 4 to 6 hours at 20°C.
Tips for processing polyester laminating resin
- Do not mix more than 500 to 1000 grams at a time due to the pot life.
- Mix the hardener carefully with the resin to ensure proper curing.
- Always wear nitrile gloves and a suitable respirator when working with polyester laminating resin.
- For 1 m2 of 450 grams of fibreglass mat, you need approximately 1 kg of polyester resin. This results in a layer thickness of approx. 1 mm.
- You can pre-colour polyester resin using polyester pigment paste.
- You can apply the laminating resin with a fleece roller or a disposable brush.
- Pay close attention to the temperature when determining the amount of hardener (see table below).
