We use GripElast to apply anti-slip. Coltech GripElast is a rubber-like non-skid coating for boat decks, cockpits and other places where non-skid is required. This 1-component non-skid coating is easy to apply with a roller and dries quickly. The coating is water-based and therefore does not emit a strong odor during processing. Use GripElast for polyester, sailing, motor and steel boats, but also for surfboards and jetties.
Before you begin, it is important to have a clean transition between the bottom of the boat and the painted interior. Fineline tape makes it easy to create a clean dividing line. This tape can be applied without wrinkles in wavy patterns and is easy to remove after use. In addition, the tape easily takes on round shapes and the anti-slip paint does not adhere to the tape.
Now that the bottom has been degreased and sanded, it is time to apply the GripElast Non-Skid Deck Coating. This non-skid coating from Coltech is a 1-component paint system. This system therefore does not need to be mixed with a hardener. Spread the non-skid coating with a glue comb and then roll it over with a textured roller. GripElast should cure for about 24-48 hours and can be fully loaded after about seven days. We recommend applying 2 coats of non-skid coating so that you have a sturdy non-skid base.
