In this article, we will tell you all about it so that you can make the right choice for your floor. Then request a customised step-by-step plan at the bottom of the page!

Epoxy floor coating Epoxy cast flooring
  • Nice smooth finish with the right preparation.
  • Commonly used in sheds, living areas, garages.
  • Layer thickness approximately 0.5 mm.
  • Impact resistant and moisture proof.
  • More economical than screed.
  • Easier to process.
  • Nice smooth finish due to filling capacity of 2-3 mm.
  • Commonly used in living areas and for industrial floors.
  • Layer thickness approx. 2-3 mm.
  • High chemical resistance.
  • Very high impact resistance.
  • Damp-proof.

Does a cast floor look different from floor coating?

No, not really. What your floor will look like largely depends on the preparation. If a floor is first leveled with floor coating, after priming with a schraping layer or leveling epoxy, the floor is completely smooth after the epoxy floor coating has been applied.

That is why epoxy floor coating is also very suitable for residential spaces, for example. For larger areas, floor coating is much cheaper with the right preparation.

What are the properties of a cast floor?

So when do you choose a cast floor? If you want a smooth floor immediately after priming, you can opt for epoxy screed. This product has a filling capacity of around 2-3 mm. Just make sure the unevenness of the substrate is not too great, otherwise preparation will still be necessary.

Epoxy self-leveling screed is many times stronger than floor coating in terms of impact load. Its chemical resistance is also higher. That is why epoxy self-leveling screed is also very suitable for industrial floors with high loads.
