Using DD Paint High Gloss

The high-quality 2-component polyester DD Paint High Gloss is designed for the protection and finishing of polyester, epoxy, PVC, metal and wood. This 2-component paint is known for its excellent colour retention, high scratch resistance and long-lasting gloss. In addition, it provides long-term protection against UV light.

DD Paint High Gloss is ideal for giving your polyester boat a beautiful high-gloss finish. This product is always supplied complete with the matching hardener. DD Paint can be polished easily, allowing scratches and minor damage to be removed with ease.

Directions for use

Make sure the surface is properly prepared before applying DD Paint High Gloss. Sand the surface to P280 grit and degrease it using Double Coat degreaser. Remove any remaining dust with a tack cloth. Wooden and metal surfaces must be properly prepared first. Apply a suitable primer such as HB Coating or ZF Primer before painting.

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when working with Double Coat paints. We recommend using a suitable vapour mask, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing.

Step-by-step application

• Open the base component, stir it well and weigh the desired amount into a clean mixing cup using a (digital) scale.
• Add the hardener to the base component in the correct ratio (67:33).
• Mix both components gently, scraping the sides and bottom of the mixing cup. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes.
• After the resting period, add approximately 3-5% brush thinner to the mixture and stir thoroughly again.
• Apply DD Paint High Gloss evenly using a foam roller, brush or spray gun.
• Immediately roll or brush the paint out lightly without applying too much pressure.

After 24 hours (at 20°C), a second coat can be applied without sanding. For the best results, lightly sand between coats and allow the penultimate coat to dry for several days. Then sand lightly with P400 or P600 before applying the final coat. DD Paint is dust dry after approximately 2 hours and fully cured after 5 days.
